Cribs for Kids Program

The program provides families with portable cribs of their own and educates parents and caregivers on infant safe sleep practices, and portable crib assembly to reduce the risk of sleep-related injury and Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS).

Akron Children's partners with 22+ community agencies to provide Cribs for Kids® portable cribs and safe sleep toolkits to families in Summit County. This helps decrease barriers for caregivers such as transportation, childcare, and access to services by providing portable cribs where they are already receiving services (WIC offices, birthing hospitals, home visiting programs, etc.).

Eligible families through the Cribs for Kids Program will receive a portable crib and a safe sleep toolkit. The toolkit includes the following items: Portable crib sheet, Sleep sack, Pacifier, "Sleep Baby Safe & Snug" board book, and additional Safe sleep education resources.

If you have a client in need of a safe place for their baby to sleep – please have them call Akron Children's Hospital Injury Prevention at (330) 543-8942, or Mahoning County Public Health 330-270-2855 ext 125 .
